What is BIS CRS Registration?
The Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS) is a product registration program administered by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). Introduced by the Government of India, the scheme ensures that electronic and IT products sold in India meet prescribed safety standards and quality requirements.
Under CRS, manufacturers must have their products tested in BIS-recognized laboratories and obtain registration before placing covered products on the Indian market.
Unlike the traditional BIS ISI Certification Scheme, CRS operates as a registration-based framework specifically designed for electronics and IT equipment. Products covered under CRS must bear the Standard Mark along with the BIS Registration Number after approval.
⚠ Failure to comply may result in:
- Customs clearance issues
- Product seizures
- Regulatory penalties
- Import restrictions
- Market withdrawal orders
